What are the benefits of teeth whitening?
For the majority of people, the benefits are cosmetic. Over time our teeth change; the ageing process, repeated exposure to coffee, tea, red wine and strongly coloured curry or pasta sauces all make their mark. Those who smoke will find their teeth darken even more quickly. Teeth whitening is a non-invasive, effective way to brighten your teeth and the results can be seen quickly.
-
How does teeth whitening work?
Treatment involves the use of a whitening gel that releases a safe level of hydrogen peroxide into the teeth to bleach out deep as well as surface staining from natural teeth. Some people may experience sensitivity but this subsides once the course of treatment has been completed.
There are many whitening treatments on the market, here at Contemporary Dental we offer three options for people looking for a brighter smile.

Whitening Options

Our take home treatment begins with an initial consultation to examine the mouth and give you the opportunity to discuss your specific requirements. To ensure the best results from treatment we usually recommend a thorough clean by the hygienist prior to beginning the whitening procedure.
During the initial consultation we take impressions of the teeth and, from these, create custom-fit mouth trays. We show you how to use the prescribed whitening gel, fit the trays over your teeth and talk you through the guidelines for usage.
The take home course of treatment normally takes 10-14 days. The gel penetrates the enamel to break up stains deep inside the tooth, allowing the teeth to gradually whiten until they reach the desired degree of whitening.
For the best outcome we strongly advise that you avoid black coffee, red wine, etc. during the treatment period.
-
As with the take home treatment we begin with an initial assessment of your teeth and we recommend a thorough cleaning by the hygienist to attain the best possible results from treatment.
There are two elements to treatment – PhillipsZoom™ lamp and a high quality hydrogen peroxide bleaching gel which, used together, will result in brighter, whiter teeth. You can choose to whiten the teeth by a couple of shades for a subtle brightening effect or a more noticeable transformation.
During treatment a special whitening gel is applied to the teeth. This is followed by an application of the Philips Zoom™ lamp. Treatment consists of two or three 10-minute applications with a rinse off and rest in between.
-
This option combines the in-surgery and take home whitening for the very best results. Following in-surgery whitening with the Philips Zoom™ lamp you will be given whitening trays that can be used at home at a convenient time to achieve your preferred level of whitening.
-
While you’ll see a difference following a one-off whitening treatment, after several months of eating and drinking normally, the teeth will develop new stains and begin to discolour again. For this reason we offer whitening memberships to keep on top of any discolouration and maintain the effects of treatment.
Platinum, £25 per month: One dental examination and two hygiene cleans to keep your teeth in top condition, as well as two whitening gel tops ups to retain a bright white smile.

Miklos qualified in Hungary from Semmelweis University Budapest in 2010 and started his career in private implant and TMJ practice where he worked for 7 years.
To deepen his knowledge and learn more about comprehensive and patient centred approach he finished a postgraduate specialist training as Conservative dentist and Prosthodontist and entered a Hungarian specialist register in 2017.
He is a great believer of minimal invasive dentistry, where highly aesthetic and functional smiles could be created with minimal amount of intervention. As it could be achieved only if the teeth are in a proper position and in a right angle, he has taken courses from all around the world in aesthetic teeth straightening and worked with systems such as Invisalign, Six Month Smiles, Fast Braces, Inman Aligners. Working with these systems he soon realized how easily achievable, small changes in smile could boost one’s self-esteem and confidence, ability to socialize, smile on pictures, especially if done before special occasions such as weddings.
To be able to replace missing teeth and provide fixed and aesthetic solutions, restore the chewing function for those who would like to smile and enjoy food again without wearing dentures or without sacrificing healthy tooth material needed to fit a bridge, he certified as an implantologist from Cambridge in 2019. He decided to continue his studies in same academy and now he is doing a Postgraduate Diploma degree in implantology.
When not working you can find him jogging, riding his bike, or doing water sports in summer and skiing in winter. Miklos is a great believer of an active and healthy lifestyle.
